Would you like to see members, groups, music, or miscellaneous?
Members deals with only my favorite members, groups deals with only my favorite groups, music has both my favorite videos and music video analysis (though they tend to overlap), photo cards deals with I'm sure you can guess, and miscellaneous deals with stuff that isn't my faves but I still like a lot, or just general info!
Unrelated, but if you're here, check out the graphics I've made section for all the kpop and whatnot stamps and blinkies I've made!
Note: I am not great with words so expect this to be silly or bare bones </3
Jahan (Ult Bias)
- Group: Kingdom
- Positions: Vocalist, Rapper, Maknae
- Kprofiles Link
Why I like them: In its entirety, it kind of came out of nowhere! There's this pattern of me going "I don't know this group well enough to have a bias" and then a member grabbing me before I can blink, and that is what happened here! I definitely noticed his singing beforehand, and I keep getting drawn to him in videos, but I cannot say I chose him intentionally as a bias, it more just. Happened. How it went on aside, I do really love him as an idol and as a person! His singing voice is extremely comforting honestly, this cover would normally never be the type of music I listen to, but his register is just beautiful, and it gives me warm fuzzies every time I listen to it. In general, looking at him in variety content and interviews, his energy I guess? Reminds me of someone I care about and feel safe around so I am just naturally a little drawn to it. I just like him a lot I think :•] Another thing is like. He's usually pretty quiet and straight-faced and more listening to everyone else when in a group but depending on the topic/what they're doing he can get Really energetic and excited and just in general how he acts around the group in variety content and how the group interacts with him I see myself in it. I don't know if it is weird to say but for me it's an autism thing and I'm not saying he's autistic I'm just saying it makes me happy to see the same traits I have in someone I admire. Also he smiles like me and I don't really like my smile but it makes me happy when I see him doing it so I'm always like. Tehe. God I also just love his voice I know I talked about this already but he has a lower register he can sing in and not a Higher tone but like. Higher than the deeper (I don't know singing terms bare with me) and both of them are so pretty.... Like his lower notes can be jarring in a "I wasn't expecting that voice to come out of you" way that's really neat but his normal singing pitch/tone/register whatever is So just. Nice.
Jongho (Ult Bias)
- Group: Ateez
- Positions: Main Vocalist, Maknae
- Kprofiles Link
Why I like them: For his everything, honestly! He bias wrecked me hard enough for me to consider him my ult bias of ateez (and honestly everyone), and it kind of came out of nowhere in all honesty. Obviously I love him for his vocal capabilities, his range is stunning, his high notes are addictive and his casual voice alluring, but I also really like his dancing so much. On stage, he doesn't dance as much as the other members (or as intensely) due to his vocalist position, but even then I find him a very good and fun dancer, and in videos where he's not worrying about that? Christ. His personality, on stage and off, makes me really happy, I adore his demeanor and how he interacts with people and the group. Overall, he's just a neat guy to me!
KB / Kyubin (Ult Bias)
- Group: OnlyOneOf
- Positions: Lead Rapper, Vocalist, Visual
Why I like them: What isn't to like about him. His singing voice is so pleasing in ways I don't know how to word properly, but god it's so stunning. Something about his tone and register is <3 I also adore him as a person, I think he is a little strange at times? Strange in a fascinating way, in a silly way, said all affectionately. But it's not just that, I love how he's actually quite a serious person, and how you can tell how much he cares for the group and the direction of the group.
Miscellaneous Stuff: I don't know if I'm gonna keep these Misc sections yet but! The first time he sings "wiggle with this parasite" in skinz gives me an aneurysm it's so insane and for what. Positively btw I wanna put that note in my mouth and chew on it it's just soooooo. If I appreciated Kyubin's voice we'd be in this section all fucking day but augh that one line just makes me wanna throw something.
Leedo (Ult Bias)
- Group: Oneus
- Positions: Main rapper, Sub Vocalist
- Kprofiles Link
Why I like them: Goddd why Don't I like him. Before I even biased him I adored his singing voice vs his rapping voice, his normal register vs his lower register, just everything about all his parts in songs are so alluring and pleasing to listen to, I'm honestly surprised I didn't bias him sooner. I also really adore how he interacts with the group and people, how caring he is, and I love watching the other members mess with him and how he typically just concedes to their whims and. I have a lot more thoughts but I can't word them. He means a lot to me.
Mingi
- Group: Ateez
- Positions: Main Rapper, Main Dancer
- Kprofiles Link
Why I like them: Well there is a trend with me with biasing (or being partial to) main rappers of groups, as I am often lightheartedly teased about, so it makes sense I'd be partial to at least one of the rappers of Ateez. I love Mingi's raps because of the raspy growl they often have, and there's this almost aggression to it that has a forced sound done naturally. I don't know how better to describe it, but there's an element to it that would sound like something you'd hear from a forced vocal sound, but instead sounds natural. I also appreciate him because I relate to him a lot? Some of his struggles and how he is, socially and in general, remind me of me so I am naturally a little more drawn to him because it's comforting to see someone with my traits in a group I like.
Kingdom (Ult)
- Debut Date: February 18, 2021
- Members: Dann, Arthur, Louis, Mujin, Ivan, Jahan, Hwon, (Formerly) Chiwoo
- Fan's Name: Kingmakers (Kingme)
- Kprofiles Link
My favorite song: "Intro: Palace", "Waka Waka", "Elements", "Excalibur", "The Song of Dann (Promise)", "Intro: Echoes of Nirvana". and uhm. more. But I don't wanna make this list super long.
My favorite choreography: "Ascension" and "Excalibur". Ascension because the ribbon work goes Crazy, I love <333 ribbon or rope worked into choreography. Excalibur because. God there's so many moments actually. I'll make a section for it under the music category.
My bias(es): Jahan but I'm also heavily OT8. OT8 with preferences if you will.
Why I like them: Godddddd. Okay so first of all What a concept. What a unique concept. The fact that they already have so many albums planned to tell their story and they've had it planned like that since debut? That's so fascinating to me! Even though I like groups with lore, I typically don't follow the lore, but I am actually really excited for Kingdom's story. Another thing is I really love how the music for the albums so far pulls in elements and instruments from the time period and place of origin for who's album it is, especially Chiwoo's. I love all of the albums but Chiwoo's is so good with the instrumentals. Also as people they are! So fun! I love how they interact with each other and "make fun of" each other and are (playfully) violent towards each other but also how much they support and compliment each other's talents and aughh. They're so fun to watch. Especially watching them play zombies. Overall just augh <333

My bias(es): Leedo & Keonhee, though Xion's wrecking and I'm really just OT5.
Why I like them: I will update this later with more words maybe but they're my mom's ult and since she talked about them so much and shared them so much I ended up also gaining them as an ult. Woops but not woops.

WayV
- Subunit of: NCT
- Debut Date: January 17, 2019
- Members: Hendery, Kun, Xiaojun, Winwin, Yangyang, Ten
- Fan's Name: WayZenNi
- Kprofiles Link
My favorite song: "Kick Back", "Phantom", and "Regular"
My favorite choreography: "Turn Back Time"
My bias(es): Hendery and Kun
Why I like them: Actually I didn't choose this subunit, it chose me. I adored their music beforehand don't get me wrong, but I kind of just latched onto them really fast and it's stayed that way? But also their variety content is a blast in my opinion, and they deserve better lmao.
In this section, the pictures act as links to the video/song on youtube, as I did not want to host youtube embeds on my website. Thank you for understanding.
Also, type indicates whether I wrote an analysis for it or I'm simply happy rambling.
Crime and Punishment (Cover) - Nakamoto Yuta (of NCT) | Type: Happy Ramble
This is not a video nor do I have any sort of analysis but I'm putting this at the top because this cover, on a serious note, changed me a little as a being! This song has been subject to many a crying session for me (which you'll probably understand when you listen to it) but that hasn't tarnished my view of the cover because it's so good. I genuinely cannot type enough words on how much I adore this, every time I heart it I get chills, my chest aches, my hands shake, not necessarily in a bad way but it's such a violent full body reaction I do not know how to contain it. This song has come on and I've had to sit down and recollect myself before I can continue working. If there's anything I want incorporated into my genetic code, it is this song, and Yuta's fucking vocals.
This song is so raw, is the best way I can put it. There's a certain rawness to his voice, an almost rasp or fry at some points, that accentuates every sound that comes out of his mouth. His scream singing is top notch, it shakes me to my core everytime. The whole song has me in a chokehold but from 3:00 on... it makes me UNWELL!! It's not just a chokehold it is actively taking oxygen out of my lungs!! If I had to recommend only one cover for anyone to listen to it'd be this cover. I need more from Yuta instantly. Oh my god. Anyways please listen to this cover please please pleaaase :3<3333
Rosalía and others stage break - ONEUS | Type: Analysis
Content warnings: Flashing, Heavy Religious Imagery, Mild Fire (Candles).
WOW. OKAY. Let's get the obvious out of the way, the choreography here is so delicious. Seoho, Hwanwoong, and Leedo are stunning dancers and I adore how their dances flow together here.
Now something else I love in this video is how it's just a dance cover to a mashup of songs, but it's still done in such a way to tell a story.
Starting with Hwanwoong's solo dance section with the backup dancers, Hwanwoong is dressed in all white while the background dancers are dressed in all black. While usually this is done with backup dancers to make the group stand out more, it works really well for the backup dancers to represent demons, demonic corruption, etc. Hwanwoong dances with them as the demon takes him over, and at one point (0:53), the backup dancers lift him and pull him back as he grins. This move, to me, is representative of the demon(s) winning over Hwanwoong, and if you'll notice, after this, bits of Hwanwoong, like his hands and top of his head, escape the black borders on the edge of the video. I adore this editing decision because it shows how Hwanwoong is no longer human, no longer bound by mortal tethers, represented by escaping the video a little bit. In general, there's also the lighting in this section. The church is dark and lit by blue light for Hwanwoongs part with the backup dancers, which I feel is representative of the "purity" left before the demon fully takes over.
Once the backup dancers leave and it's Hwanwoong's full solo, there's three different lightings. General lighting, the blue light behind him, and a dark red. The blue light is the same that represented his purity before, but now that he's been taken over by the demon, it flashes before being quickly replaced by a dark red. There's still a bit of the True Hwanwoong fighting inside against the corruption, but it's always snuffed by the demon. The decision to show this only through lighting and not through dance is fascinating because it shows how the battle is fully internal at this point, and the dance and expressions (the external part) are only the demon because the demon's fully in control now.
Following this, you have Seoho's and Leedo's duo dance section, with them in the entire priest's robes. This dance part is a character introduction that's shot in the church during daytime with soft lighting, it feels holy because these priests are holy. Here, Leedo and Seoho are in full priest garb including the long robes that cover most everything, taking note of this is important later. The choreography is, by just a little, slower in some parts, and has some more open and smooth movements than compared to Hwanwoong's solo, which a tad faster and had more jerkier movements at points. The choreography is done in this way here to feel comforting and holy, it's not jerky in a startling way, it's easy to follow and meant to show the priests' skill.
Another thing the choreography here shows is the unity between the priests, working together through the lord essentially. I think this section has a little less to analyze personally (at least compared to the other sections) because it's supposed to be a character introduction and meant to contrast and compare to other parts, but it's still really beautifully done and chock full of stuff to notice.
Part three, the battle, Leedo and Seoho as priests vs Hwanwoong, corrupted by a demon. Right off the bat, you'll notice (from the viewer's standpoint), the left side of the church is dark and unlit while the right side has the same daylight coming in that was so holy and illuminating in the previous section, and lit red in the middle. This section is supposed to represent the priest's attempts to cleanse the demon, and the demon's attempt to corrupt the priests. There are multiple moments where Seoho and Leedo are dancing separately but in tandem with Hwanwoong, such as 2:26, showing their opposing sides. The choreography of both sides works together and is the same in most parts, one because it's a group dance section, but also shows it to be a tense battle. Neither side is unskilled in what they're attempting, and neither side is so easy to back down.
Towards the end of the choreography, it becomes obvious that corruption is the winner here, in certain moves where Hwanwoong has Seoho and Leedo kneeling before him (2:58, his arm motions control their kneeling), but actually, from the very beginning of this section it was obvious the priests would lose this battle. Their outfits. In the previous character introduction to the priests, their garb was more traditional and full, this was them at their normal. Here though, it isn't, such as Leedo's sleeveless top, and the chains and accessories on Seoho (well, both of them). They are still priests, this is still them functioning as themselves, but just by the outfit change you can tell they were fighting a losing battle, it's a hint at the corruption that's already sinking its claws in from the very beginning.
Finally, the last group dance section. This is the corruption in full. The background dancers originally representing the demon(s) are back, the outfits are fully changed as it becomes apparent there's nothing holy left to be found, and they move outside of the church. There is no God left here, only the demons possessing them.
This is more of a looser interpretation on my end I'm going with, but it feels like there's a slight portrayed power difference between Hwanwoong vs Leedo and Seoho here. If you'll notice, Hwanwoong still escapes the black borders on the edges of the screen at certain moments, while Seoho and Leedo do not. This is apparent at 3:23, and their choreographical placements has Hwanwoong in the front with Seoho and Leedo behind him, which feels like a slight hierarchical thing (possibly showing Leedo and Seoho as corrupted servants, or possibly just as slightly lesser demons than Hwanwoong, but the power difference is evident no matter how its interpreted). I feel this is also evident at 3:43 when it's only Hwanwoong, Leedo, and Seoho, and Hwanwoong sends his arm out sending Leedo and Seoho down, and also following this where Seoho and Leedo are behind Hwanwoong with their hands on his shoulders, showing they are behind (under?) him but still work in tandem.
BTW if you couldn't tell I'm so normal about this video. I just love everything about it.
Moonwalk - WayV | Type: Analysis
Content Warnings: Mild flashing, Apocalyptic / End of World scenarios, mild fire (asteroids).
This is one of the first MVs I saw that I did a semi-heavy analysis of and it holds a slightly special place in my heart! This analysis isn't so much of the lyrics, as it more focuses on the MV, even though the lyrics and MV do go together, I'm only focusing on one because I often struggle with lyrical analysis.
One of the reasons I adore this video of how beautifully dread and happiness (ish. Could use a better word here) are contrasted yet intertwined, and how the happiness almost feels like a distraction from the dread but is instead shown as a reaction to dread, a chosen reaction specifically. Starting with the elements of dread, there's a few different settings in this video. There's a boxing ring that some group dances are done in, that's run down and broken, there's the empty and deserted city, the deserted wastelands on the edge of the city, the empty space station, among a few others. What these have in common is how run down they are, they're desolate, inhabited by no one except the group members (and even then, they're separated for the most part). We as viewers have no clue what happened here, on both earth and in space, but we know something had to have happened. Something went horribly wrong, and somethings about to go horribly wrong, and we're simply in the calm of the storm for most of the duration of this video. We don't know what will play out after this video (in this created world), but in a way, it almost doesn't matter (which I will go into in a second). We're shown an impending tsunami over someone's shoulder, we're shown the glass of water rippling and shaking, we're shown the asteroids coming down, we're shown the desolate space station floating untethered and unmanned through space, we're shown all this stuff that's about to go wrong and it makes our bones sink, it's almost nauseating. But.
We're also shown the dancing. We're shown the singing. Despite everything, they dance, they sing. It's a very loaded happiness, it's not without its own weight. The characters/group see the world around them, they're well aware of the situation they face, knowing they will not make it out alive. But it's okay, that's something they've accepted by now, so what else can you do besides indulge in song and dance, something so very innately human? We don't have long left, so why not live while we're still here. From an outside perspective viewing this world, it can almost feel like this indulgence is used as a distraction, to not think about the world ending, but thinking further, there's no ignoring it and these characters know that, but worrying will not change the outcome, so they've chosen happiness. In the face of despair they've chosen to dance. It's shown best in Ten's solo dance starting at ~2:40 (spread between a few clips), where the ship he's in is actively going down, and his immediate reaction is throw his jacket and begin dancing. It's an extremely bittersweet happiness, but it's the last bit of sweet they have to counteract said bitterness. Choosing that is difficult to do, both in real life and likely in the setting this video creates! But it's hopeful, and demonstrated really beautifully
Ending thoughts is I love this videooooo heart symbol. Also the song fucks it gives me chills everytime I listen to it.
Voodoo Doll - VIXX | Type: Happy Ramble
Content Warnings: Gore, Violence, Flashing.
I adore this song, but more than anything I love the video. I adore practical effects, especially gorey practical effects, and this video is full of them. In this video they really didn't hold back (though they did make a clean version where they, of course, held back), and they're my favorite for it. Each member has a different role, a different type of curse, which is reflected in the ways they've been mutilated for the video, which I adore. Not to mention, the choreography is insane?! I love when the one person get's lifted in the beginning, but I also adore their use of the cane prop and the theatrics of their choreography, how they use the dancing (and the prop) to display the meaning and spirit of the song and video. Overall, this has to be one of my favorite (kpop) music videos of all time.
Roar (Dance Practice) - The Boyz | Type: Happy Ramble
LET'S START. Fact about me is I am a dance practice enthusiast, and there will often be times where I prefer dance practices to actual MVs (and I always prefer an actual dance practice over a performance video). Why do I love them so much? Well I am a huge choreography enjoyer so you can imagine I'd adore dance practices, but still then, why do I prefer them to performance videos? The stomps, the shoe squeaks, the practice rooms, all of it. If a dance practice has good shoe squeak sounds and stomping that is like crack to me.
So Roar by The Boyz right. Video's great and all but have you seen the fucking choreography? Have you watched this? The smooth parts during the chorus? At 2:31 where they form into the slope? The Fucking Everything? The choreography here is literal candy I want to. Eat it. Wow.
Shut Up 받고 Crazy Hot! - ONEUS | Type: Happy Ramble
What can I say! This video is just so fun! I am a sucker for Mad Max inspired outfits and scenery, and that's this entire video! I love everyone's costuming in this video, my favorites being Seoho's, but I love everyone else's as well. I also really adore the backup dancer's outfits, I adore how their prescense really ties the whole video together. Another cool thing they did in the video is used real fire!! There's the huge spouts of fire during group dances, and there's a brief moment with what looks like flash paper which I love, because if there's anything about me it's that I love when <3 practical effects <333 This video also showcases Leedo's Horrible trigger discipline, even if they're fake rifles, it makes me giggle seeing him swinging the gun around with his finger on the trigger damn near the whole time.
Some specific moments I really like are at 0:51 when Hwanwoong is being held up, 2:46 where Xion walks up the human staircase (I love human staircases in choreography), 3:05 when Seoho kicks his leg high over Xion, and 3:14 where Hwanwoong is being lifted up on someone's back. Without timestamps, I also really love the dramatic piano playing because it's so silly to watch and also do along with the video. Overall, this video is just an instant boost of serotonin.
Black or White - Cross Gene | Type: Happy Ramble
If it wasn't obvious from the everything about me, I am also a fan of violence and blood and gore, so as you could imagine, this video is directly up my alley. There's so much going on, I'll probably actually analyze it when my brain isn't mush, but for now I will be normal appreciative!! A huge thing in this video for me is that it feels filthy, it feels unclean, every location is just uncomfortable to be in. Even the doctor-type location, something you'd imagine to be uncomfortably sterile, just feelsgross. I think a huge thing contributing to that is the lighting and sharpening of the whole video, another thing I'm a huge fan of. The lighting is never necessarily good, for lack of a better term, and while we can see what goes on, the lighting they choose washes out a lot of other colours Except for the colour of the light itself, which provides an interesting effect of seeing too little which clashes with the explicit violence and the feeling it gives of seeing too much.
On the note of the violence, they really don't hold back in this video and I adore it. I'm personally a fan of when the one is getting drowned in the bloody sink, but every death scene in this video is so visceral, you're not spared a second of the fights, and it's fascinating. When one of them is getting beaten with the baseball bat, the paranoia of the one who's seeing himself on TV, the panic of the one getting nailed into a coffin. It's almost like we're living through the panic and suffering of every single member as they're killed, and it makes my stomach turn in the best way possible.
I have more thoughts I'm struggling to word right now so I will probably update this later.
Excalibur (Dance Practice) - Kingdom | Type: Happy Ramble
Okay to start: The video itself is wonderful and I absolutely adore it don't get me wrong, but I love the choreography so so much which is why I'm using the dance practice here. Also, rather than write paragraphs, I'm just going to do this in list format with my favorite parts <3
- Through the entire thing the backup dancers carry it just a little bit! Their dancing brings the whole performance together and they deserve so much recognition here.
- The chorus choreography!! It fits super well with the music in the chorus and hits super hard and I super adore watching it.
- In general, all the prop work with the swords? Obviously the swords are going to carry a lot of weight in a song literally called "Excalibur" but I LOVE prop work in choreography so I had to give them a special shout here.
- The amount of floor work being done is so cool, the rolling around and laying down and whatnot is so pleasing to me.
- 0:25, the members crouched around Dann that rise up in sequence with his arm is so neat, I am always a sucker for when it looks like one person is controlling the movements of everyone else.
- 1:50, Chiwoo being lifted up in a throne position with the dancers, and all the swords being held up like an actual throne behind him. I just love when people are lifted as you will see.
- 2:00, when everyone is slightly crouched and they jump up in a sequence to the beats in the song, it's sooooo goood.
- 2:12, some of the members are lifted onto the shoulders of the backup dancers, then the backup dancers fall to the floor under the members, kind of insane!!
- 2:48, THE HUMAN STAIRCASE WITH DANN AND THEN THE FALL BACKWARDS. EASILY my favorite part in the whole choreography, human staircases are something I talk about quite a bit when I see them in choreography but this is honestly one of my favorites just because of how he falls backwards it's so insane.
- 3:02, when the backup dancers lift Arthur and spin him around in the back.
- 3:07, EASILY one of the most iconic moments in the whole performance, when the sword is tossed to Arthur, and he stabs it down into the ground, and all the dancers who were laying on the ground lift up in time with the stab. IT'S SO COOL TO WATCH!!
- 3:42, when everyone has their swords pointed upward and slowly lowers them down. It's not a huge thing but something about it is very fun for me to watch.
- 3:54, when everyone is facing away and swaying gently from left to right, and when they sway left they stomp and the backup dancers on the left depart, then the same when they sway right. It's such a cool way for the dancers to depart, and it's super brain scratchy to watch.
A few of these are unofficial ones but I wanted to include them anyway :3
